KLPRIDE 2009 -Finally, a party for everybody

As you all know PRIDE is all about celebrating our sexualities and diversity and showing the world, or at least ourselves, that we are proud of who we are. PRIDE month globally is June which also commemorates the Stonewall riots. PRIDE, at it’s roots, is a political event, a protest, to highlight LGBTIQ rights and to commemorate all those who have fought for this cause.

I’m really hoping that we can get as many PLU groups together for this special event to show, in the very least some solidarity and to have some fun. As it is also Merdeka month, we thought we’d be clever and make the event a double celebration of pride and independence, hence the theme. So in a way the event is actually a Merdeka of ourselves. As in Singapore, they have Indignation, a month long celebration of pride events including readings, talks, workshops and parties which includes Singapore’s independence day, KLPRIDE 2009 would also like to be an event that is more than just fun, but has a message albeit a simple one – that we exist and we are proud of who we are.

The event is mainly a party for women to to celebrate each other but it’s not exclusive. PRIDE is not exclusive, it’s inclusive and I would encourage you all to invite and spread the word to all your PLU friends, gay, bi-curious, TS etc and also to extend that invitation to any other people who are friendly to the cause because PRIDE, after all is an event for everybody.

Please don’t come on my blog and leave bigoted threats. I don’t tell you what you can and can’t do. If, as you say, God will punish. Then let Her judge.
